Background
Pangolin is the most trafficked mammal on earth and all species of them are highly endangered. Many conservationists who study and protect pangolins have never seen one live pangolin throughout their careers.
According to WWF, pangolins are highly prized in many parts of their range as meat and increasingly for their unique scales. A pangolin is poached every three to five minutes. Yet we received intel that many pangolins are killed in Vientiane, Laos, every single day.
Project summary
In early 2024, Agent C team conducted field investigation in Vientiane and Luang Prabang, Laos, investigated and documented the pangolin trafficking crisis, hoping to expose the trade and to put pressure on the Laos government to close the black markets.
